Who am I?

Sense of Identity appears to revolve around who we choose to hang around or a strong and healthy person’s ability to not be influenced by the people around them. Christ becomes our identity. He has infused His spirit within us and we are called to allow him to live our life for us. Why bother trying to steal some mortals identity and trying to become an individual when God allows us to have the Holy Spirit and still become what we were uniquely called to become? Galatians 2:20, “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me” (NIV).

A thought that kept me from falling asleep extra quick the other night.

The world (and frankly other Christians) spends too much time looking at the Christian...in fact the world (and other Christians) will only be let down if they compare the Christian to the presumptions they have about us. The world (and other Christians) needs to take a good long look at the fully God, fully man, that is, was, and will come again. Then they can make up their own mind on whether to believe…

Pictures from Summer Vacation

Here are a few awesome shots from our wonderful summer vacation to the Gulf Coast of Florida. Venice is a great town and so many beautiful beaches are close by.

From Church Sunday September 28, 2008

1 John 2:15-17

The NLV reads, “Stop loving this evil world and all that it offers you, for when
you love the world, you show that you do not have the love of the Father in you. For the world offers only the lust for physical pleasure, the lust for everything we see, and the pride in our possessions. These are not from the Father. They are from this evil world. And this world is fading away, along with everything it craves. But if you do the will of God, you will live forever.”

The Message reads, “Don’t love the world’s ways. Don’t love the world’s goods. Love of the world squeezes out love for the Father. Practically everything that goes on in the world-wanting your own way, wanting everything for yourself, wanting to appear important- has nothing to do with the Father. It just isolates you from him. The world and all its wanting, wanting, wanting is on the way out-but whoever does what God wants is set for eternity.”

The NIV reads slightly different...it is in my van. This message was preached Sunday at my church and I too became suddenly aware of my focus. My focus had shifted. The exterior of the body is sometimes easy to disguise...to the world that is. The interior condition of the heart is another thing. Where is your heart? Are your preoccupied with your Father’s love? Eyes fixed on heaven above...obsessed with my heavenly Father’s love. That focus on truth is allowing yourself to be blessed beyond measure. Resting and accepting the promises of God. Daily surrender.

Our Visitor

Our old cat, Pantera, brought home a dinner guest last evening. I am very glad the dinner guest survived! The kids and I had a good time checking him out and when we were finished, I scooped him up with some gloves and set him free outside. Zeke and I think that he definitely looks like Alvin.
